How it all began...

Updated: Sep 7, 2021

I've always loved home interiors, I get it from my mum. My children sigh whenever we pass one of 'mummy's shops' (imagine beautiful window displays of home accessories), as they know they've lost me for at least half an hour perusing photo frames, cushions and candles!

As a young girl, both of my parents worked in the new build housing industry and I was allowed to 'play house' in an array of beautiful show homes. Fast forward many years and I still love exploring other people's homes, whether it be in real-life or home magazines. Yes, I am one of those people who has an addiction to home magazines and Rightmove, even though I have no intention of moving. Please tell me I am not alone?!

It's also fair to say that I love people. For sixteen years I have worked in probation services and met the most diverse group of individuals you could ever imagine. It really has tested me to my limits at times, but the joy in seeing someone's life change for the better and playing a part in that progress is so rewarding.

I always thought that probation and interior design were completely different worlds and in some respects they are. However, they also have a key ingredient in common - the client. Working with a client, developing a trusting and transparent relationship, exploring their goals and helping them to visualise and achieve them...it all adds up to improving their lifestyle and achieving their dream, no matter how big or small.

In late 2018 I found myself considering my future...continue as I am or challenge myself and set out to achieve my own dream. I have always had a passion for helping people, coupled with a creative flair and Amy Newton Interiors allows me to combine these in my dream venture.

Thanks for sharing the ride with me from the start.

With love,

Amy x
